The work of Blakstad Architects and Design Consultants has long been synonymous with authentic and timeless architecture, and the effortless blending of traditional elements with contemporary luxury. Our portfolio spans the globe, with each project embodying a commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability and cultural respect. For this post, we selected five iconic projects from across the world that represent the diversity of our designs and the common threads that run through all of them.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Something interesting about the signature Blakstad style is that it fits every type of landscape and climate. This remarkable villa in Abu Dhabi marries traditional Mediterranean aesthetics with the arid serenity of the landscape. Characterised by whitewashed walls, natural stone textures and rustic wood accents, the villa pays homage to timeless Ibizan architecture while adapting to its unique surroundings. This is also the first time the studio has been commissioned to design horse stables, a task adopted with relish and executed with stunning results.

Spacious interiors drenched in natural light feature high beamed ceilings and a neutral colour palette, maintaining a sense of openness. Bespoke furnishings and organic textures add character and depth, while large glass doors provide a seamless connection to the outdoors, offering breathtaking views of the equestrian facilities and surrounding desert.

Sabina Clubhouse and Templo, Ibiza

The Sabina Clubhouse is the heart of a high-end enclave in Ibiza, showcasing Blakstad’s innovative approach to modern communal spaces. Designed as a luxurious retreat, the Clubhouse seamlessly integrates spaces for dining, relaxation and social gatherings, both indoors and out.

The highlight of the Clubhouse is the Templo Sabina, a non-denominational space for spiritual events and gatherings. Its serene water features and celestial-inspired interiors invite introspection and connection. This unique structure embodies Blakstad’s dedication to creating environments that nurture the soul and provide a tranquil escape from daily life.

Turks and Caicos

Overlooking the incredible blues of the Caribbean Sea, this villa in the Turks and Caicos archipelago is a masterpiece of contemporary coastal luxury. Designed to embrace the sunny, year-round climate, the villa features an effortless flow between indoor and outdoor living, with expansive glass doors framing views of turquoise waters and lush surroundings.

Inside, the villa’s bright and airy interiors feature bespoke details such as exposed wooden beams, soft linen furnishings and artisan lighting. Outdoors, shaded pergolas, a beachfront dining area and lush gardens fully embrace the tropical lifestyle, while an infinity pool appears to merge with the horizon.

Monte Plata, Ibiza

Perched on a hillside with stunning views of the Mediterranean, Monte Plata is a celebration of Ibiza’s natural beauty and architectural heritage. The villa features terraced gardens, bougainvillaea-draped pergolas and shaded outdoor lounges that seemingly melt into the landscape.

The modern and minimalist interiors place the stunning views centre stage while the villa’s infinity pool, surrounded by lush gardens and overlooking the sea, is a focal point of this serene retreat. Complete with a private spa, outdoor entertainment area and panoramic rooftop lounge, Monte Plata epitomises Blakstad’s ability to harmonise luxury with nature.

Scottsdale, Arizona

This Blakstad-designed home is a masterclass in blending architectural elegance with the natural environment. Bare stone façades harmonise with the surrounding rugged terrain, while lavender-filled terraces add vibrant colour and fragrance to the arid surroundings. The design incorporates local materials to create a warm and earthy palette that complements the landscape.

Handcrafted finishes and natural tones establish a cosy yet sophisticated ambience. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors connect the interiors to the outdoors, where shaded patios and a sparkling pool provide respite from the desert heat. This villa exemplifies how a Blakstad design adapts to diverse climates and cultures without losing its essence.
