Collaboration is key in any architectural project, and this doesn’t stop when adding the finishing touches. Choosing trusted brands to work with is as essential as load bearing walls. At Blakstad Design Consultants, our decades of experience has helped to hone down our list of preferred brands to a select few that we trust.
Each project brings its own set of idiosyncrasies and each client has their own sense of style. Many clients arrive already knowing their favourite brands, for everything from dishwashers and televisions to taps and doorknobs. Others prefer to seek the guidance of our team, especially the keen eye of our in-house interior designer Sonya Montoya. This one-woman design powerhouse stays up-to-date on all the latest trends and technologies via an intense addiction to design magazines and Pinterest. Having worked with high-end brands for decades, Sonya has developed a keen eye for what works and what doesn’t.
The kitchen is always more than just a place to prepare meals. More often than not, the kitchen is the heart and soul of a home, a place where family gathers to share both food and conversation. Two of Blakstad’s favoured kitchen brands are Bulthaup and Varenna. Founded in 1949 in Germany, Bulthaup continues to be a family run business that consistently leads the way in kitchen design and craftsmanship. Known for its research and development department and use of fine materials, each of their kitchens is custom designed with the concepts of lifestyle and connection at the centre. The sleek lines and chic neutral colours of a Bulthaup kitchen are perfectly suited to the Ibiza style.
The Varenna brand was acquired by the multi-disciplinary Poliform in 1996 and expanded its kitchen offerings via the family owned Italian furniture company. The seven styles available range from minimalist chic to industrial sleek – high quality fixtures and innumerable design options makes these kitchens favoured by foodies and fashionistas. There are many quality kitchen makers used by Blakstad Design Consultants, yet more often than not, our team of highly experienced carpenters and cabinet makers create bespoke kitchens to the exacting standards of our clients’ needs and style.
When it comes to whitegoods there’s no surpassing the beauty and reliability of Sub-Zero, Wolf and Miele products. Sub-Zero refrigeration solutions are designed featuring integrated doors and professional grade wine storage. From the same company come Wolf ovens and stovetops. These ranges are cooking heaven, with double oven combinations, built-in options, warming drawers, Teppanyaki plates and the best barbecues on the market. Miele has been manufacturing kitchen goods since 1899, starting out with butter churns and cream separators before launching their very first washing machine in 1903. They continue to be a global leader in design, functionality and efficiency.
Tapware is one of those things that could be easily overlooked, but when taken into consideration brings a certain elegance to a bathroom or kitchen. We use brands and styles that suit the individual design, but very frequently return to our favourites. Tres is a Spanish company based in Barcelona and manufactures top-quality kitchen, bathroom and utility taps. With a catalogue of hundreds of styles, there’s something for every kind of house with the optional chlorine filter addition being a very popular choice for Ibiza. Architect Arne Jacobsen was the first designer to hide the mechanical workings of taps, leaving just the handles and spout exposed. Scandinavian company Vola took his idea and created a global brand that continues to use Jacobsen’s philosophies to this day. Among the other big names used in Blakstad homes are Starck, Grohe and Iconico – all of which are designing and manufacturing the highest quality of taps.
Whatever finishing touches you’re dreaming of in your new Ibiza home, our team have all the right contacts to make sure that no detail is ever overlooked.
