Nestled among pine forest and stone walled terraces along the road from San Juan to Cala San Vicente lies Can Toni Den Serra, a charming finca steeped in history. This area was once so remote that the only way in or out was via boat or donkey along a small winding track. The setting carries a rich narrative, immortalised in Leif Borthen\u2019s book The Road to San Vicente<\/em>, chronicling the area\u2019s characters and traditions during a simpler time. It wasn\u2019t until the 1970s that a proper road linked this tranquil corner of Ibiza to the rest of the island, transforming what was once a hidden enclave into a tourist destination. Despite modern developments, the area retains its secluded charm, with the landscape still whispering tales of its pastoral past.<\/p>\n

This farmhouse, hundreds of years old, might be considered a ruin by some, but it stands as one of the few original farmhouses still capable of being restored to its former glory. Restoration being a Blakstad speciality, it was only natural that the owners commissioned the studio to undertake this monumental task. With licenses approved and meticulous plans in place, the property is now waiting for a special owner to breathe life into it once more.<\/p>\n

Surrounding the house, ancient stone terraces frame lush farmland, a testament to Ibiza\u2019s agricultural history and a reminder of the family that once farmed this land. Beyond the terraces, pine forests stretch into the distance, while a nearby natural spring \u2013 once essential for the farm\u2019s irrigation and livestock \u2013 continues to flow sporadically. The landscape unfolds into a verdant valley dotted with neighbouring fincas, preserving the area\u2019s bucolic charm.<\/p>\n

Blakstad\u2019s proposed design for the farmhouse celebrates its historical essence while incorporating impeccable craftsmanship and modern elegance. Original features such as exposed beams, graceful archways, curvaceous niches, reclaimed stone flooring and the centuries-old bread oven are thoughtfully preserved, highlighting the finca\u2019s<\/em> rich heritage. These timeless elements are seamlessly complemented by contemporary additions, including bespoke carpentry, sleek furnishings and carefully curated lighting, creating a cohesive blend of past and present.<\/p>\n

Due to its heritage status, the house cannot be expanded beyond its original footprint, ensuring the restoration remains true to its authentic character. True to the Blakstad ethos, every detail of the renovation reflects a deep respect for the finca\u2019s<\/em> agricultural and familial roots. Through meticulous attention to detail, the design achieves a harmonious balance, bringing together traditional and modern enhancements that honour the home\u2019s storied past.<\/p>\n
